Our stay was a wonderful celebration, marked by luxury from the moment we arrived. The room was spacious and had stunning views, plus the spa was an absolute highlight. However, the dining experience left some room for improvement, especially with portion sizes that didn't match the high standards elsewhere in the hotel.

I had a wonderful birthday treat thanks to my dad, with a lovely room and fantastic spa facilities. The Brasserie served us an amazing meal, and the overall ambiance was delightful. However, there were some service hiccups and a few areas in need of improvement, particularly around staff communication and booking processes.

Rooms

The room we stayed in was spacious, clean, and comfortable with a lovely view and a unique TV in the bathroom. The only drawback was the small bottles of shower amenities, which didn't last for two people.
Service

Service varied during our stay, with some staff being very attentive, while others seemed a bit frazzled and not fully informed, leading to some confusion during our dining experience.
Location

Located in beautiful grounds, the hotel feels tranquil and is a nice escape despite being relatively close to Newcastle. It's perfect for a leisurely stroll after dinner.
Dining

Meals were fantastic, especially our dinner in the Brasserie, but breakfast could use some improvement as the croissants were served cold.

The spa facilities were great, with lots of different rooms to use. However, the booking process was frustrating, which detracted from the experience.

I had an outstanding stay at this hotel, enjoying a luxurious experience with beautiful grounds, attentive service, and excellent dining. The spa facilities were a highlight, and my room was spacious with stunning views. However, there were some hiccups during checkout that overshadowed an otherwise perfect experience, especially since it was a special occasion for us.

Rooms

The room I stayed in was huge, well-equipped, and offered a stunning view of the golf course. The massive bed and modern amenities, including a bathroom TV and a walk-in shower, made my stay very comfortable.

While most of the staff was attentive and friendly, I encountered a frustrating situation at checkout that marred the experience, as the admin issues created unnecessary stress. Still, the overall service was high quality.

I booked directly with the hotel and treated myself to a suite in the Old Hall, which was stunningly beautiful. The breakfast in The Orangery was relaxing, but the room had some downsides like the lack of air conditioning and a somewhat cramped shower. Overall, it was fantastic, but there's room for improvement regarding comfort in the suites.

Rooms
8.0
The Suite was beautiful and well-decorated, but I found the lack of air conditioning a bit challenging, especially on a warm night. The shower was quite a squeeze, but the large bath with a built-in TV was a delightful touch.
Service
6.0
The service was friendly but slow at times, especially during breakfast and at the bar due to limited staff.
Location
9.0
The location is lovely and tranquil, perfect for long strolls, and not too far from Newcastle.
Dining
7.0
Breakfast in The Orangery was made to order and nice, though the fruit salad was a bit overripe and the cake options were limited.
Facilities
9.0
The spa was a lovely addition, and the local walks were enjoyable.
